Welcome to Week 5 of the Peter for SMOB '25 Campaign Blog! Throughout this blog, you'll find behind-the-scenes information on all of the happenings in and outside of the campaign.

HAPPY BLACK HISTORY MONTH

It's February, which is also Black History Month! This is a time where we celebrate Black culture and acknowledge the history of African Americans. This is a fight that still goes on today across our nation. But even in Montgomery County, we still see remnants of segregation in the way boundaries are drawn between school clusters and the need for more diversity and inclusion within our curriculum. Equity is a large component of Peter's platform! To learn more, visit:

4 NEW SCHOOL VISITS!

On Tuesday, February 4th, Peter spoke at a "Meet the Candidates" event held at Springbrook High School during lunch and had the opportunity to give a presentation and talk to students there. That same day, he visited the Hallie Wells Middle School SGA in the afternoon.

On Wednesday, February 5th, Peter visited Neelsville Middle School and then hopped on a Zoom call to speak with student leaders from Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School virtually.

HOW TO VOTE PETER FOR SMOB

Nominating Convention is the annual event where over 450 middle and high school delegates from across the county come together to vote for the two SMOB finalists. This year, it will be held during the school day at Watkins Mill High School on Wednesday, February 19th, 2025 from 10:30am - 1:00pm.

Registration has closed for most schools by now, so if you were chosen to be a voting delegate for your school, we look forward to seeing you at Nominating Convention in less than 2 weeks! Make sure you vote Peter to be one of the final SMOB candidates!
